Dr. Willie Lockett to Serve as Guest Speaker at Health Sciences Short-Term Programs Pinning Ceremony

Dr LockettCoahoma Community College is proud to announce that Dr. Willie Lockett, Jr., Director
of Respiratory Care at Coahoma Community College, will serve as the guest speaker
at the Short-Term Programs Pinning Ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 5:00 PM at The Pinnacle.

Dr. Lockett is widely recognized for his leadership in healthcare education, professional
respiratory therapy, and student advancement. He currently serves as Program Director
of Coahoma’s Respiratory Care Program and is a Registered Respiratory Therapist and
Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist, demonstrating a distinguished commitment to
cardiopulmonary health and community-focused healthcare initiatives .

A respected educator and healthcare advocate, Dr. Lockett’s academic journey includes
an Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Care from Coahoma Community College,
a Bachelor of Science in Cardiopulmonary Care from the University of Arkansas for
Medical Sciences, a Master of Health Sciences in Organizational Leadership from the
University of Mississippi Medical Center, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration
from Jackson State University. His doctoral research examined cognitive and non-cognitive
factors influencing the persistence of students in allied health and community college
programs .

Dr. Lockett’s leadership extends far beyond the classroom. He is a past president
of the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s School of Health-Related Professions
Alumni Association. He also currently serves on the Board of Trustees and chairs the
Compliance Committee at Tallahatchie General Hospital, while simultaneously leading
as Founder and CEO of Trained Healthcare Consulting, LLC .

His professional recognitions include membership in both the Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha
Eta Honor Societies, reflecting high academic achievement and leadership in health
sciences education. Dr. Lockett is married to Denise Lockett, and they have two children
and two grandchildren .

The Pinning Ceremony will celebrate students completing short-term health programs,
including Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
(CCMA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and Phlebotomy. Dr. Lockett’s message of
perseverance, professional purpose, and educational excellence will serve as an inspiring
highlight for graduates, families, and faculty attending the event.
