COLUMBUS – If you’re looking for a great place to stay in Ohio, look to Columbus for one of the best hotels in the U.S., according to Men’s Health.
The Hilton Columbus Downtown in Columbus, Ohio, is one of 40 hotels named to the 2025 Men’s Health Travel Awards. It is one of 11 hotels awarded under the Active category, along with hotels in other U.S. cities, Costa Rica, Turks & Caicos, Norway, and more.
“Right by the Convention Center, this is the move if you’re in town for the Arnold, Ohio State game day, or a Blue Jackets or Columbus Crew match,” Men’s Health writes in its review of Hilton Columbus Downtown. “The gym punches above its weight class, with dumbbells that go up to 75 pounds, two Pilates reformers, a Peloton, and a connected fitness mirror. Rooms are modern and quiet, and you’re within walking distance from the action without being stuck in the chaos.”
The Hilton Columbus Downtown features two fitness centers, including one with a Peloton bike, an indoor pool, and a whirlpool, according to its website.
The hotel, located in Columbus’ Short North Arts neighborhood, is a short walk from more than 150 dining and entertainment venues, including Nationwide Arena, North Market, Huntington Park and more. Hilton Columbus Downtown also offers pet-friendly rooms for an additional fee.
“The Hilton Columbus Downtown is also the state’s largest hotel, with 1,000 rooms,” said Susan Glaser, the longtime Travel editor for Cleveland.com / The Plain Dealer. “The hotel is located on both sides of High Street – a pedestrian bridge connects the two buildings. When the hotel’s 28-story addition opened in 2022, it became the biggest hotel in the state – bigger than Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, which has about 900 rooms.”
Men’s Health Travel Award winners are “handpicked by our editors after visiting the property firsthand,” according to the magazine. In addition to Active, the other two award categories are Recovery and Relax.
“We gave top marks to hotels, retreats, and cruises that deliver real value, wellness, and adventure, from surfing in Costa Rica to hiking in Utah. Some pushed us out of our comfort zones; others helped us unplug. All earned their places on this list,” Men’s Health added.
